Piatt: 2 new cases in Monticello.

DeWitt: 2 new cases in Clinton. 1 new case in Heyworth.

Piatt: 1 new case in Atwood.  1 new case in Monticello.

DeWitt: 2 new cases in Clinton. 1 new case in De Land.  1 new case in Kenney.  1 new case in Maroa. 1 new case in Waynesville.  1 new case in Farmer City.

Piatt: 1 new case in Atwood. 1 new case in Bement. 1 new case in Monticello.

DeWitt: 2 new cases in Clinton.

DeWitt: 3 new cases in Clinton.

With these additional cases, DeWitt Co has had a total of 2082 cases; Piatt Co has had a total of 2056 cases. Over the past week, DeWitt Co has had 19 cases, Piatt Co has had 15 cases. There have now been a total of 34 deaths in DeWitt Co and 14 deaths in Piatt Co due to COVID-19. 

 

Vaccination for COVID is available through our offices.  We are now scheduling appointments for 3rd dose/Booster shots.  Please call us for an appointment.  In DeWitt Co, call (217)935-3427 ext 2141 or in Piatt Co, call (217) 762-7911 ext 2211.  You can also receive vaccination through local pharmacies, or through state sponsored vaccination clinics in areas nearby.

There has been growing concern regarding the Delta strain of the COVID-19 virus.  We do not have adequate data at this time to determine if any of the active cases are from this strain.  Delta has been detected in our jurisdiction.  Vaccination remains the best option to protect oneself against COVID-19, including the Delta variant.  In addition, “breakthrough” cases are happening.  In those rare incidents where a breakthrough case occurs, they tend to be less severe due to the vaccination status of the individual.

 

Active Cases have stabilized over the past week.  Both DeWitt or Piatt counties are NO LONGER on the state WARNING LIST for COVID-19. However, incidence rates are still considered “substantial”.  The county warning list metrics are found here:
